Maple Candied Bacon Recipe
Melissa
Bacon is delicious on its own, but candied bacon is extra special. With a maple and brown sugar coating, it's a match made in heaven, especially if you love sweet and salty flavor combinations.

- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar
- ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 pinch ground cloves
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon
- 8 slices bacon (preferably center-cut)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix together the maple syrup, brown sugar, and spices in a small bowl.
Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on a silicone mat or parchment-lined baking pan.
Brush each side of the bacon with the mixture with a pastry brush.
Bake for about 15 minutes, flip bacon, and then bake for an additional 10-15 minutes or until the bacon is crispy.
Allow to cool on a wire rack and serve.
Tips
- Using a thicker cut may increase baking time.
- Avoid allowing the bacon to cool on paper towels to prevent sticking.
Leftovers Storage
Allow the bacon to cool completely and place an airtight container. Keep in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. If stacking the bacon, use a piece of parchment paper to prevent the slices from sticking together.
To freeze, wrap each piece in plastic wrap and place in a freezer-safe bag or container. Store in the freezer for up to 3 months.
To thaw, place the frozen bacon in the fridge overnight or at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Reheating
Place the bacon on a parchment-lined baking sheet and gently reheat at a low temperature in the oven (about 300 degrees F). Remove it as soon as it is warmed through - roughly 5-10 minutes depending on the thickness.
