It’s safe to say that our family’s favorite condiment is ranch dressing. There was a time when my brothers didn’t eat anything unless it was covered in ranch. If you feel likewise, make sure to check out our Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders - you'll love them!
Ranch and carrots are such an easy snack and go together like peanut butter and jelly. So, we decided to combine the flavors into this easy side dish recipe that’s always a big hit!
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Just 3 Ingredients - No fussy, long ingredient lists in this recipe!
Versatile - These Air Fryer Ranch Carrots work just as well as a weeknight dinner side dish as they do for serving at Thanksgiving or Holiday meals.
Super quick to make - These carrots are exactly what you need when you want to get dinner on the table fast.
Ingredient Notes
Fresh carrots - You can use whatever shape you like - baby, chip-style, or whole, peeled carrots cut into 2-inch sticks.
Light-tasting olive oil - Make sure to use a neutral, light-colored oil when air frying to avoid burning the oil. The lighter in color the oil, the higher the smoke point, and the less likely it is to burn. Light-tasting olive, canola, safflower, or avocado oils can all be used.
Ranch seasoning mix - I used the standard Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning - you can buy this in a packet or a large jar, usually found in the spice aisle.
Fresh dill - This is an optional garnish, but it does add a fresh flavor and color to the dish. You can also use fresh chives if desired.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Toss the carrots in a mixing bowl and coat evenly with the olive oil.
Step 2: Add the ranch seasoning mix and toss with the carrots until evenly coated.
Step 3: Air fry the carrots, shaking the basket halfway through cooking. Top with the fresh herbs for garnish if desired.
Expert Tips and Variations
Make sure that you spread out the carrots in an even, single layer when you roast them. If you’re not able to do that, I recommend working in batches so that all of the carrots cook evenly.
Try making your own DIY ranch dressing seasoning mix by using the measurements below. You’ll only need to use about 2 tablespoons of this mix to make Air Fryer Ranch Carrots.
- ¼ cup dried parsley
- 1 tablespoon dried dill
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 ½ teaspoons dried chives
- 2 teaspoons salt
For this recipe, I recommend only using fresh carrots. Frozen carrots contain a lot of water and may become soggy.
Drizzle the carrots with a touch of honey before serving for a sweet glazed flavor. You could try hot honey and/or a dash of smoked paprika for a sweet, spicy, and/or smoky flavor.
Grate fresh parmesan cheese on top just before serving while the carrots are still hot for a cheesy twist.
Mix in other veggies. Throw in a few peeled and chopped parsnips to your carrot mix. Parsnips provide a similar flavor to carrots but are a bit more sweet and have almost licorice flavor. You can also try other types of winter squash like butternut or acorn squash - just make sure everything is peeled and cut in uniform size to the carrots so it all cooks evenly.
Storage and Reheating Tips
Leftovers can be kept in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the fridge. To reheat, place ranch carrots back in the air fryer at 350 degrees F for 3-5 minutes or until warmed through.
Serving Ideas
These Air Fryer Ranch Carrots are the perfect side dish for everything from special occasions to everyday dinners. You can serve them alongside things like my Air Fryer City Chicken, Ham Steaks, or Baked White Fish. The carrots with the ham steaks would be perfect for a simple Easter dinner.
Or, serve alongside Truffle Mashed Potatoes at Thanksgiving or the Holidays celebrations. Plus, my homemade Dill Pickle Ranch Dressing would be a perfect dipping sauce or drizzled on top of the carrots before serving.
